Last updated Jul 20, 2016

UMEC originally conducted logistics related courses. Between June and October 2009, it conducted Regimental Quarter Master Sergeants Course for 20 trainees and Quarter Master Course for 40 trainees. In February 2010, UMEC transitioned to Engineering disciplines and conducted crafts courses that included Building and concrete practice (BCP), Motor vehicle technician (MVT), Plumbing (PL), Carpentry and Joinery (CJ),      Electrical Installation (EI).

In August 2010, UMEC admitted students for diploma courses in various fields of engineering (Civil, Water, Electrical and Mechanical) offered by UNEB.

UMEC attained the status of an examination center under UNEB and UBTEB in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

UMEC has since been identified by East African Community (EAC) Defence Expert Working Group (DEWG) as one of future facilities to be contributed by Uganda to the EAC.
