Invest Wisely, Gen Muhoozi tells Battle Group 20

Yesterday, 18th January 2017:  The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen David Muhoozi, has called upon Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Officers and Men to be conscious while venturing into investment.

Gen Muhoozi, said this while delivering a lecture on ideology to UPDF’s Battle Group 20, who have been undergoing an orientation course at the Peace Support Operations Training Centre in Singo, Nakaseke District. The course covered post mission counseling and guidance, financial literacy, history of Uganda, role of parents in building families, pan-Africanism, and regional integration, among other areas.

Battle Group 20 has been performing a peace support mission in Somalia under AMISOM with support from the African Union.  The Chief of Defence Forces cautioned soldiers to make a critical analysis of possible investment opportunities within the country before venturing into business.

“Use the financial literacy acquired during the two-week long ideological course to invest in profitable and sustainable business avenues to improve on your welfare. Don’t hurriedly make uninformed decisions to avoid making mistakes”, said Gen David Muhoozi.

The CDF warned soldiers on investing in luxury to avoid wasting their hard-earned money. He wondered how someone can buy a smart phone which is equivalent to twenty goats.

The CDF commended soldiers for being a brave and disciplined army in the region which has attracted Sister regional armies to participate in the 2018 East African Community (EAC) Armed Forces Week in Bukedi region.

Gen David Muhoozi, re-affirmed his commitment to improve the welfare of soldiers despite the many challenges and urged them not to forget the history of UPDF.

Battle Group 20 commander, Col Bernerd Arinaitwe Tuhaise, was best in Command and control, while his deputy Lt Col Alex Bahenyangi Namara was rewarded for being very obedient and punctual.

Others rewarded were Maj Robert Namanya Nkwisa, Capt Alfred Okech Olama, Capt Jacqueline Nakayenzye, WO1 Sabiiti Robert, among others.

The CDF was accompanied by Brig Jack Bakasumba, Lt Col Rukundo, and other Battle Group Commanders.
