Gen Katumba noted that it is important for UPDF to create an opportunity of celebrating with our children since Uganda is now secure. “We have been leaving out our children in instances like this, therefore, this moment will create an opportunity to know each other,” CDF told the already jubilating children.

He cautioned soldier’s children to leave responsibly in this Christmas environment, while aware of the fact that security of a person begins with self.

The army chief, further, urged children to associate with the sponsors of the event, that is, Riham industries, New Vision Group, Post Bank, Wasacco, UPDF Members of Parliament, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence, and  Minister of Defence; for the socio-economic development of the country.

Gen Katumba, called upon the children and the entire country to remain calm since the country is now peacefull. “Security is good and we are working with the police to harmonize the Christmas season,” said Gen Katumba.

The Chief of Staff Land Forces, Brig Leopold Kyanda, thanked the CDF for hosting the children of soldiers to the glamorous function, and applauded the sponsors for their good gesture, saying that this will be a memorable event in the eyes of the UPDF fraternity.

The UPDF brass band and acrobatic team, entertained the children and other guests at the function before lunch was served.

Sponsors donated cash, eats and drinks, tents and chairs, towards the success of the function.
