Army decorates new Generals
The outgoing UPDF Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Katumba Wamala, commended the army for the high discipline and countless successes in their operations.
This was during the pipping ceremony for the newly promoted army officers at the army headquarters on Mbuya hill in Kampala.
‘You have deservedly earned those pips on your shoulders and I have no doubt in my mind that the Commander-In-Chief knows that you can handle responsibilities.
I often tell you that promotions come with responsibilities and so many of you will soon take them on,” Gen Wamala said.
He said that when he sees the line of young blood coming into leadership of UPDF; its clear that the likes of Him (Wamala), Gen Pecos Kutesa and Gen Elly Tumwine have done a good job.
Gen Katumba asked the new leadership to continue focusing on training army officers and called upon them to be on top of their game to keep the forces higher.
The former army chief cautioned the incoming CDF, Gen David Muhoozi, to continuosly focus on the training of officers.
Gen Muhoozi promised to focus on cohesion, team work, maintaining peace and training as his key areas.
He described Gen Katumba as an amiable, friendly and distinguished gentleman, who has prominently lifted the image of UPDF in and around the region.

The UPDF representative in parliament, Gen Elly Tumwine said the promotions meant that officers acquired more responsibilities.
